Welcome to CompressGo. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CompressGo governing your access to and use of our website, services, and tools. Please read these Terms carefully before using our services.

By accessing, browsing, or using the CompressGo website located at compress-go.com (the "Service" or "Website"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

CompressGo provides a comprehensive suite of free online file optimization and manipulation tools, including but not limited to:

- PDF Compression: Reduce PDF file sizes while maintaining document quality and readability
- Image Compression: Optimize images in various formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP) with customizable quality settings
- Video Compression: Compress video files (MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI) for easier sharing and storage
- ZIP Archive Creation: Create compressed archives from multiple files
- Metadata Removal: Strip EXIF and metadata from images and documents for privacy protection
- File Conversion: Convert between various file formats (images, documents)
- Additional Utilities: QR code generation, Base64 encoding/decoding, and other file management tools
2.2. Client-Side Processing
Important: All file processing operations are performed entirely client-side within your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly technologies. Your files are never uploaded to our servers, transmitted over the internet (except when you first load the web page), or stored in any external location. This architecture ensures:
- Complete privacy and security for your sensitive files
- Faster processing without network upload/download delays
- No file size limits imposed by server storage constraints (only browser memory limits apply)
- Full functionality even when offline (once the page is loaded)
3. User Account and Registration
3.1. No Registration Required for Basic Services: Most CompressGo services are available without creating an account or providing personal information.
3.2. Optional Account Features: If we offer account creation for premium features or enhanced functionality in the future, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account
4. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

- Illegal Content: Process files that contain illegal content, violate intellectual property rights, or infringe on third-party rights
- Malicious Software: Upload or process files containing viruses, malware, trojans, or other harmful code
- Automated Abuse: Use bots, scrapers, or automated systems to access the Service excessively or disruptively
- Service Disruption: Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service
- Reverse Engineering: Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or discover the source code of the Service
- Security Violations: Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, other users' accounts, or connected systems

Since all processing happens client-side in your browser, we never have access to, possession of, or control over Your Content. You are solely responsible for Your Content and the consequences of processing, creating, transmitting, or displaying Your Content.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights, licenses, consents, and permissions to use Your Content
- Your Content does not infringe, violate, or misappropriate any third-party rights
- Your Content complies with all applicable laws and regulations

7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CompressGo disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Warranties regarding the quality, accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or results
- Warranties that defects will be corrected, or that the Service is free of viruses or harmful components
- Warranties regarding the compression results, file quality, or file integrity
CompressGo makes no warranty or representation that:
- The Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations
- The Service will be compatible with all browsers, devices, or operating systems
- Any compression results will achieve specific file size reductions
- Compressed files will maintain perfect quality (quality loss may occur depending on compression settings)
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL COMPRESSGO, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES.
This includes without limitation damages for:
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
- Loss of goodwill or business reputation
- Business interruption or work stoppage
- Computer failure or malfunction
- Cost of substitute services
- File corruption, loss, or damage
- Loss of privacy or data breaches (beyond our control)
- Any other commercial damages or losses
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise) and regardless of whether we were advised of the possibility of such damages.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
AGGREGATE LIABILITY: Our total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you paid us (if any) for accessing the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Advertisements and Third-Party Content
The Service is supported by advertisements to keep our tools free for everyone. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

- Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive (including warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability)

20. Force Majeure
CompressGo shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance under these Terms due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, pandemics, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.
